Fairytail K9 - Illustrations for Doggie Daycare Groups
This project was for a new dog daycare and training facility. At Fairy Tail, the dogs are sorted into groups based on personality. Tarin (the owner of Fairy Tail K9) had the idea to create “guilds” for each group, using the illustrations as kennel signs for each dog. She had some general ideas for imagery and breed/type of dog for each guild, all within the fairy tail realm.
Concept Sketches.
The first concept sketches landed for most of the illustrations! We switched out the unicorn retriever to a poodle, making the horn out of banded poodle hair - a cute nod to the dog show realm, which Tarin is a part of (exhibiting rare Japanese Terriers, included in the Fairy Guild illustration)
The Phoenix illustration went through several revisions, eventually landing on a pose that gave more of a dynamic feel of rising from the ashes .
(Unused concept sketches are available for consideration here)
